One mistake, though. As mentioned, you're comparing two completely different displacement engines. When it comes to small blocks, displacement is paramount. To be fair, you need to compare simular displacement engines. Compare a Ford 289 to a Chevy 302, the Ford will be faster. Compare the Ford 302 to the Chevy 305, the Ford will beat it every time. Compare the Ford 351 to the 350, agian, the Ford will walk all over it.

Keep in mind, I'm taking into consideration that the mods to each engine are identicle and the displacement of the engines aren't changed (not stroked or bored).

I've owned only GM until I picked up my '65 Ranchero. I always knew that a Ford with simular displacement and simular mods would be faster. So, when lining up at a stop light, my only hope was that my car had more modifications.
there is no replacement for displacement. As someone told me once. This isnt always the case, though. a well tuned ford small block with a decent cam and a good carb set up, usually with the two spec'ed together instead of separate components can walk all over a big block chevy. seen and made it happen on more than one occasion.

Well, only in a sense Ford didn't take the small block into the 21st century. However, Ford did create a new block all together with this generation of mod motors. It was just a different direction rather than stay with the same old architecture.
