shop talk

alright....my buddies and i have this thing we call shop talk where we all have a few beers and argue about muscle cars and motors lol sounds stupid but its actually pretty fun, but our last one was about if you can get just as much performance out of a ford 302 as you can a chevy 350, like torque and horsepower, and the scenario is both motors being beefed up as much as possible even if it means rebuilding it after every time your run them, both cars would weigh the same and have the same gear ratios and same tires and etc. i know theres a lot of variables like cams, cumbustion chamber shapes on the cylinder heads, valve placement and all the other fun stuff, me being biased and loving ford obviously im going to do what ever it takes to make them take to the 302 even though there probably really is no winner but it gives us something to do on a saturday night at 2 in the morning lol so whats your guys take on the subject?

Re: shop talk

the built 350 will take the built 302 every time... THe 302 cannot be built as tough as the 350, it' simple, sad but simple.
You can stroke the 350 to 400+ and you can only go to 350 CI+ with the 302... So CUBES win's almost every time...

I hate chevy motors but that damnable 350 is versatile, just like our 302's

Our 351 will beat the hell out of the 350 though, so lb for lb I think the 351 will STOMP...

Re: shop talk

The 351 Windsor is what the chevy guy's call a small block, and it's a barn burning sun of a bitch!

The other is the 351 Cleveland, which can put out more than 600 HP on pump gas, and is still in the Small Block category if you consider that chevy has a 400 SB and we got a 351/400 Small block... It's all relative...

Cubes are what count in the end, elsewise people would not run a 514 BBF, or the 502 BBC....
