Trying To Figure Out The Gas Game
Gasoline in the town where I live cost $3.77. Ten miles north in the next town it cost $3.91. Six miles south in the next town it cost $3.69. Six miles further south it cost $3.84. All of the Mobile stations will give you four cents per gallon off if you pay cash. I know quite a few people who will drive six miles south to save eight cents per gallon. I'm not that tight yet.

Re: Trying To Figure Out The Gas Game
I live in Lancater, ohio and Rt.33 runs right through it(tHey put a bypass in about 3 years ago or so) and it is a major route for people traveling to work in columbus ohio. Around 6:00am it is bumper to bumper for Miles. Gas is always higher in lancaster than other surounding areas.

Re: Trying To Figure Out The Gas Game
As far as I'm concerned, the gas game is in pennies for some older traditional stations....
My last boss owner a service and gas station back in the late 70's and early to mid 80's.
He made on average $0.04 per gallon to keep afloat.
He made his money off volume adn he didn't make a killing, that was for sure... That's a LOT of the reason behind the damn gas stations turning into mini malls with all the crap they sell...

Re: Trying To Figure Out The Gas Game
I posted this same thought a couple of years ago before the big jump in prices.
I live in Warren County, PA where United refinery is located and gas prices were always $.10 a gallon higher than the towns further away. I asked a retired refinery exec. why and he told me because they could. There is no other competition. The refinery owns the stations and even though the shipping costs are much less, the price per gallon was always higher. Make sense?
When you have to sell a product at a competitive price one place, you make up for it where you have no competitors. Think Walmart, grocery chains, auto parts stores, and the list goes on.

I often find this saying fascinating; it gets thrown around a lot; it implies that whomever is willing to use the most force, wins. While that is the law of the jungle, it is not the ideal of a modern society.

Re: Trying To Figure Out The Gas Game
Yeah well a meek man, or other people scared, or not willing to leave the house never accomplished much, thats just my take on it.
I am not saying what they are doing is right but if you want to help invent something that helps cars get amazing gas mileage.
Or develop new technologies that make the Electric car possible?
Not an inventor? Start a business and invest in other ones, I like most of you, and sometimes to get ahead in life you need to sink your teeth into life's oh so sweet throat and bite down. Most wont agree with me, but thats life.
Thats just my take on things.

Pace: I'm not too sure how modern our society is. I remember my Dad saying in the USSR nothing could be printed or spoken without approval of the government. Today the press is restricted from reporting what is going on in the war. If you write a book, you may have to testify in front of congress. Even post here will be deleted if they are deemed to inflammatory for the readers. I guess the powers to be know whats best for us.
