With every other sumbicchin shop and half the hot rodding community backing up claims that a damn paint job should cost $6,000 to $15,000 dollars...

Why the hell can't I give a damn 302 AWAY for a hundred bucks?

I figure if the friggin paint job costs that damn much, then a dam motor should get a hundred bucks...

That's cause you are the king of cheap but only in the purchasing not the selling. You aren't holding your tongue right or add the word "RARE", isn't that supposed to work?

you are the king of cheap, as far as 6-15k well I think 15k is a bit much, but 6k for a quality paint job, is not unreasonable,

I am not paying just for body work. I am paying for the fact he stays current on all new technologies when it comes to automotive repair, I am paying 6k in hopes he uses a stud gun to pull out any major dents that need to be pulled out rather then drilling a million holes in the body panel, I am paying for his team of people to get the car done faster then I could possibly do it myself.

To me I think its totally worth paying that kind of money for a good paint job, and for some paint systems/brands and depending on color materials alone can run well over 1000$ just for materials..

So no 6k is not unreasonable 10k is getting expensive but if its a perfect paintjob and exactly what I want its no problem.

I like you gary your an alright guy, but I do know that mainly what you do when it comes to cars is stock restorations and that is totally cool, I think there needs to be a place for that, you are a very reasonable alternative compared to other shops that wont touch a car for less then 40k...

So I think both people can exist in the same world, If I was going to get my torino or the truck painted I would take it to you, you do a quality job and you seem to be well priced.

But if I was going to do my galaxie, and I was going to pay someone (gonna do it myself) I would fully expect to pay 6k for a paintjob, BC/CC of course and the colors and type of paint I want is expensive not to mention the amount of hours of bodywork they would need to put into the car to delete trim and drip rails fix the lead in my quarter panels get everything lined up among other things.

Plus how many hours are involved in wet sanding a car with lets say 3 or 4 coats I am sure its alot of hours if you are looking for an NO orange peel look.

I just give 302s away. Nobody actually pays for them if they don't have too. Everybody I know just has them lying around and if somebody needs one, you can usually get it for a sandwich or an old carb or something like that.

Well I might be a bit of a tight arse too when it comes to paint jobs, because I refuse to pay anything near that.

gary i just sold a 66 running 289 and fmx trans --100 dollars-- the alum intake was worth more than that--

I'm also cheap in some things. I will be doing the Rustoleum paint job. That way when it gets scratched I can just touch it up. A local shop quoated me $5000. Thats alot of money for my pocket.

Call me old fashion, but I still beleive you have to sow something to reap something. Give your favorite charity fifty bucks and then maybe you'll get $150.00 for your 302. You might even get $200.00 if you cut back on your cussing.
