O/T - Saw my First Challenger 2009? on the street day

I had to look 3 - 4 times, it almost a carbon copy of the 69 -70 "Cuda's", only difference I can see is that its actually visually larger.

The one I saw was some kind of Black paint, with what looks like metalflake in it. It also had the 6.1 Hemi.

I get the impession it was a staged placement, to see how people would react.

I had to take a look. I like the red.
Brilliant Black Emerald Pearl is the black color. The black is nice too but so hard to keep clean. Like I'll have to worry bout that anyway. lol

I like that they kept the taillights close to that of the challenger.

This reminds me of something my dad used to tell me when my mom was always ragging on him to buy a new car.

"Classics can be improved on, but they can never be replaced."

My response and opinion was pretty much the same when the retro T-birds and Mustangs came out. In ten years, mabye, they'll be wore out, fiberglass junk. They dont make them like they used to...........and never will again.

Yeah there's a couple running around out here. Two of them on the dealer lot. They're asking $41,900 for them..both are 6.1 engines.

I hate to say it but I wouldn't give any more than $25,000 for that car. It really isn't anything special for that much money. Even the salesman told me that most folks that have that kind of money are buying the 3/4 ton and 1 ton diesel pickups and modding them.

Re: O/T - Saw my First Challenger 2009? on the street day

At SEMA this past year we saw the test version of the Challenger and the proto-type Cuda.

I believe the Challenger was pretty much the car as it would go up for sale ... Both cars were very, very reminisent of the 70 cars.

The Cuda had quite a bit of carbon fiber on it.

Both were right up my ally ... I might stand a better chance of owning one of these than that 70 BB Cuda with a pistol grip four speed I have been yearning for over all these years, looks to be cheaper too

I saw one yesterday it was black and coming out of a neighborhood a half mile from the house. Nice looks a little bigger than the original but it looked mean!

I saw one the other day and I have to say that yeah, it was larger, but it was not very eye catching, other than it being one of the first. What really "fries my onions", was the latest edition of Motor Trend where they compared the Challenger to the GT-500. In evey single category the GT-500 beat the Dodge and yet evey picture suggested that the Dodge won every category. Then they had the cahonies to pick the Dodge over the GT-500 as their pick. It just proved to me that money talks and BS sells magazines. BTW, I have purchased my last "Motor Trend" mag.

Like the new mustang, the new challenger looks like a fat plastic version of their former selves. In my opinion they suck, they will never be made like they used to. I wish that the big 3 (and especially ford) would stop trying to bank in on their past and actually come out with some automotive innovations like they used to. Ive seen the new challengers on the street and its not impressive, although they did do a good job of making it big.
