The racing boss 302s were making more then 290hp back in the day. It was only the factory for sale ones making that, and all you had to do to get more was remove the rev limiter. Also those stangs back in the day were most likely a fair bit lighter then 3300lbs.

Re: Ford Brings Back The CobraJet
I find myself asking "who gives a ****e?" It is nothing that any average joe like myself could ever even dream about. Those 50 cars are gonna go to the ford exec's brother/ uncle/ gardener's friend's brother/ ect. (all of which are worth 10 figures apeace) It's cool to see for continuing it's growth through the KR and CJ but until I am able to walk down the street and get financed for one (we arn't talking about insurance ) I repeat "who gives a ****e?"
(oh, and I'm not trying to give calspec a hard time, thanks for all the great posts bro.)

Re: Ford Brings Back The CobraJet
Ya know, I gotta say that I think it's great that Ford is bringing back the Cobra Jet. Ya, I know that I likely can't afford one, and that I wish I could, but it is nice to see the "Blue Oval" kicking a$$ again. I love to see the "Fusions" tearing up NASCAR, and the FR500's creating their own circut. A factory 10 sec cobra jet, well I can't wait to see one! Who knows where it will lead. As well for those who wish for a stripped down street race car, well let's just say that with today's Attorneys, the 60's aren't comming back. If this car can be taken to the strip and meet NHRA's standards, then bring it on. In the 60's there were no such rules. As for now, well let's just say that Chevy and Dodge are wishing they were Ford right now and had a mustang of their own. I was at Lowes for the Food Lion Auto Fair, and some guy was selling his brand new 6 mile, Challenger SRT8 for less than he paid for it. I don't think I've seen a GT500 have that problem. Lastly, I saw in person a "Super Snake". Carrol Shelby was there and the owner met him. He told Carrol that he did not bring anything for an autograph, so Carrol asked him where he could be found. The guy said that he had his "Super Snake" on display and Carrol asked where it was. A few hours later, Carrol shows up at his car, (security guards in tow) and signs the dash!!! What is the "Super Snake" worth now???????
Last point, I heard a rumour that the Wall Street investors that own Chrysler, are getting tired of losing money and speculation is that Chrylser may be for sale again by spring!! Special project cars are currently being cut back and the overall product line rationalized. Bye Bye Dodge.....

Re: Ford Brings Back The CobraJet
That fact that the trucks are being sold at 40% off (no, no cash back, 40% off the price) says a lot. Dodge and the rest of the pentastar are in trouble.
As for strip down cars, remember the '00 Cobra R? It was more strip down than most muscle cars. No back seat, no AC, no radio, no power seats, only one color choice, etc. Question is if the mass public will buy these kinds of cars since most are use to AC, auto, power windows/seats, and radio/cd players as standard equipment.

Re: Ford Brings Back The CobraJet
You don't have to worry about the "mass public" buying these cars because it is only a limited run of 50 cars.... I don't think they'll have too much of a problem selling 50....

X2
Inexpensive Stripped down Performance models, how about bringing back the mustang like it was in the 60's with engine options, transmission options, Ect, Build your own car. Make it fun again to go buy a car, let people pick what they want.
Not the miserable experiance is always is now.

We can still pick what we want, but we have to go through Jack Roush to do it.
