Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford

I'm assuming that the part about selling items with trademarked logos includes the "Ford Muscle" t-shirts?

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford

glad to hear the issue was resolved- was getting worried the trademark craziness from a couple years ago might be coming back- but it looks like the ford fans that wrote ford a year or two ago about all the threats to things like enthusiast sites for name usage musta been heard- and the ranger site was in the wrong somewhat by producing unlicensed stuff to sell...anyway glad its all worked out in a logical manner rather than a strictly legalese battle of the attorneys good job Ford

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford

For what it is worth I have had a little first hand experience with corporate cut off the nose to spite their face bull****e as well. Several years ago I had a web site in which I covered several modifications on my Honda Valkyrie motorcycle. On one of the pages I covered an exhaust modification in which I used some excellent quality exhaust tips and put a link to where I got them and the approximate price. Several months later I received a cease and desist letter from the exhaust companies lawyer telling me to stop using their product name on my website.. Keep in mind I dumped praise on the product.... Needless to say I took the product off my page and wrote the company a letter back explaining that if anything I was simply sending them free business. I received a reply from them that they seriously doubted if my website generated any business for them. About 2 months after pulling the product name I got an e-mail from a friend telling me to go to their corporate website...... what do I find there?.......MY pics from MY website... bunch of hypocritical thieving bastards....

What they did is leagle but you can bet they left some hard feelings , the ranger station won't say any thing because they got out with out need to pay any fines but i think biting the hand that feeds them will cost ford some fans .
If ford lost one customer it would be to many right now .

correct, copyright law. I am a photographer and as soon as the photo is taken you own the copyright weather you register it or not. it helps in court to have it registered but it is not necessary.

Personally if it where my photos from my site I would go after them for costs of photo usage for the time it has been on there site and if they want to continue using it they pay a yearly fee for it.
