Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
That's unbelievable that someone like ford would do that.
It doesn't look good for anyone else with any Ford cars in their titles, like here.

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
Keith,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I have some PR contacts at Ford. I will be emailing them tomorrow and asking how Ford has the money and time to be spending on frivolous crap like this when it is begging Congress for a $9 billion line of credit courtesy the American taxpayer.
Last thing Ford needs is the mass media to be aware of this hypocrisy.
Tell Jim Oaks over at RangerStation that I'll do what I can.
Thanks

Ford contact form:
https://secure.ford.com/footer/conta...=PublicAffairs
I sent my tactful but dissapointed email. I let them know I have purchased 2 new fords and have had 4 used fords. They should be ashamed of themselves (more ashamed than they already were).

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
Hell, I would tell Jim, Ford could have the domain name for $20,0000. I don't see how they can do that. Pray on the mouth that feeds them.

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
This is just ONE reason I will never buy another NEW FORD product. The others are lack of interesting models and poor customer service.
FORD MOTOR COMANY (present) is in no way the FOMOCO of years gone by. If I want to buy foreign technology, I will go straight to Honda.

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
This must be a delayed continuation so to speak of a while back when they were making all the classic ford parts suppliers pay up or get out and we lost a few back then. Now they are after the forums who tout the greatness of thier products and keep them alive? By the looks of below maybe they are just trying to gather the funds themselves to help them out a little by putting some of the burden of cash on the very people that support them's back? Who knows but hope they wise up soon or they will be needing a lone if word travels and they make enough proud Ford owners who support them irate.
I recieved this earlier today and checked it out to see that it is legit.

Ford Motor Company Statement on Proposed Congressional Automotive Industry Bill
Monday December 8, 7:44 pm ET
DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire- FirstCall/ -- As we told Congress, Ford (NYSE: F - News) is in a different position. We do not face a near-term liquidity issue, and we will not be seeking a short term bridge loan. But Ford fully supports an effort to address the near-term liquidity issues of GM and Chrysler, as our industry is highly interdependent and a failure of one of our competitors could affect us all.

Re: Ford Fan Sites Attacked By Ford
In trademark law this is actually very common. If a company doesn't defend its trademark it can be demonstrated that it has been watered down, therefor it is no longer valid, and anyone can use it for any reason (think Q-tips, Kleenex). That said, if your use is not an attempt to profit from the trademark, they will generally just make idle threats, hoping that you will cease and desist, but not prosecute you. On the other hand, if your use of the trademark is making you a profit, by law, they are entitled to a portion of your revenue, or they have the right to legally make you cease and desist, on the grounds that it could infringe or otherwise water down their trademark.
