Lost a friend last night.
The granddaughter,s Lab got out of the yard and hit by a car. By the time the Vet got to the hospital the good old boy died. Man...it's like loosing a family member.
My granddaughter lives with us sense birth, so it makes it even harder to see her pain, she loved that dog so.

Re: Lost a friend last night.
I'm really sorry to hear about your lab. I lost my dog to heart disease a couple of years back and it was devastating. Be glad for the good times you had with him while he was with you.

Thanks Bumblebee......we also had a Lab die a few years ago, and he had heart worms. In some cases I have more compassion for animals than I do for some people.

Re: Lost a friend last night.
I wrestled with my whippet ,ZEB, last night. Told the wife that that dog was just like my second son to me.
Sorry for your loss,
Scott

Re: Lost a friend last night.
Since my St. Bernard was put down when both she and I were 14 years old, I've yet to have a pet so close as it was totally devastating to me and I could not handle it again without taking someone out with me... (like the asshat in the car)
I am sorry for your loss Bob, be strong for the girl and comfort her with a trip to the pet store next week.

Thank you.....some how I don't think it is right for this old guy to be walking around all day with tears in my eyes.

It is right Bob, you wouldn't be much of a man if you couldn't.

Re: Lost a friend last night.
My many thanks to the Police officers that helped us, they came to the house to tell us and had there cars stationed on the road with there lights flashing and helping us put the dog in our car, than calling a Vet and telling them to meet us at the hospital. We have great Police in our small town.

I agree with FE. Sorry for your loss of a family member. Feeling the pain of our youngsters and showing it is never wrong. You have my empathy, Bob. Lost my dog 15 years ago. One of my brothers 3 years ago. The pain never truly goes away, but get's easier to deal with in time.
