Finally some real progress

Well I have been hanging out here for some time and most of you know I have a 65 2d FB gal....... but she has been a yard ornament the whole time with little having been completed. Life just seems to keep getting in the way. But enough of that crap. Tuesday she was a complete car with an engine and tranny sitting in the bay. Wednesday I was off and after getting up and taking care of household chores I went outside about 11:00.... as of 12:30 this is what she looked like.

At this point the soda blaster came out and I started on the frame rails and crossmembers. A little while later I ran out of baking soda and cleaned up the mess. After cleanup I got out the spraygun and some satin black. It got too dark to take pics so I got them today after a little more work.

DAMN it feels good to get some real work done!

I have the suspension off of the parts car and am going to rebuild it and then do a one day swapover. I am excited again about getting this ole gal back together!

Re: Finally some real progress

Thank God for Air tools! That air ratchet and liquid wrench sure makes quick work of rusty bolts!. I have to fab a new battery apron and a couple of the filler pieces that go between the core support and the stone guard but nothing major. I also have to retrofit a 66 stone guard to a 65..... the mounting points are completely different. I also got a lead on a local chrome shop so I will have to check them out and see how hideous the prices are and how good the work is. There is no such thing as "cheap" chrome anymore thanks to the EPA. Only cheap stuff you can get comes out of China.
