Soooo sick of this happening
I would just like to know if anyone else is having an issue with this. It seems as if no matter what, if I order or buy a part for any mechanical anything, that part does not fit or work in one way or another for the application that it says in writing that it works for. Example; my riding lawnmower needs a belt to drive the blades, the old one wrapped itself around the pulleys twice for some odd reason, bringing all operation to a screeching halt. It is a Scott's 20Hp 46" deck. For some other odd reason I guess it is actually a John Deer tractor with the Scott's name on it. Anyhow, they pull up my model and give me the belt which looks way different. It is thicker, and longer. So it is now installed on my mower and it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach the desired tension it is supposed to have when engaged. I have adjusted the tensioner all the way out. I can still take off the belt with my hands. I cross reference with the dealer and manufacturer on the phone, and it is the only belt for my tractor, and it has no characteristics of being the correct part. I checked belt routing 4 times, and it isnt difficult, it is correct. SO NOW I have to actually use the WRONG BELT to get my mower to work. I will have to buy a few of these belts at a time until I weed out the bad and find the good. OH and these belts are 50 dollars a pop, so there is no being able to "test it out" because if its wrong and wipes the belt, im out 50 bucks! Anyone here who has been on the forum for a while and has read my threads would have to notice a pattern emerging. If I wasnt a Christian man, I would honestly believe I had a curse of some kind. This happens over and over and over. Dont believe me? Look in the archives, on my name. Anyone remember the big fuel sending unit debacle involving Dennis Carpenter and thier entire line of fuel sending units being to long for my car? I also ordered coil springs from a web site I wont mention that came nowwhere NEAR fitting my Galaxie. Over and over it happens, and I just want to know is it me? Is the quality assurance of manufacturing just non-existant?

Sorry for that bro!
You should consider calling a mower repair guy and asking if he's come across this before.
Those damn green belts are expensive!

Re: Soooo sick of this happening
TSC has tons of belts in stock, and cheap! our old cub cadet needed both belts, think they were like 12 bucks. TSC beats about anyone from what ive seen...we got a new pushmower for trimming, got a husqvarna at sears for I think 329, at TSC saw the same model for 270 something...if you havent checked there, I would suggest giving them a shot.

mu azz thats what the profit on the product does-- - when you got to the grocery stor do you pay handeling to the casher to ring you out -- no---
handeling charge is another switch and bait tactic-- give a low price and at check out add on more charges--
shipping charges-- 9 dollars for shipping a gasket set-- the postage on the package when it came was-2.63
rant not over -- now for the new health care -- dam liberals --if you dont buy a 15thousand dollor polcy the gov can fine you up to 250 thousand dollars--and 2 years in jail-- just read it on the news--
------ health bill befor congress--
Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

Re: Soooo sick of this happening
Shipping and handling charges...
Thats shorthand for "you are being screwed"...
call in for your free gift, all you pay are for "Shipping and Handling".
Side note: still fighting the same ol' battle. Health care bill hasn't been passed and already a few "brainiacs" are defaming it - while thousand (if not millions) of people who are willing to pay for health insurance can't get based on pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions, thats shorthand for "you are being screwed".
As for the law and enforcement. Speed laws are in place, but people still speed. Sometimes you get a ticket, sometimes you don't and sometimes "the government" recognizes the law needs to be interpreted to fit the conditions.
By the way:
""...According to Title 18, United States Code, Section 1705, residential
mailboxes are indeed considered Federal Property and are protected
under that same code against acts of mail theft, vandalism and
rifling..." - whens the last time that was enforced?
Its illegal to deface a mail box - yet, If you can find one, they are going the way of the Dodo - chances are its plastered with dog pee, stickers and graffiti... I ain't seen no FBI chasing dogs away or coming through the local schools picking up the "art starved" little monsters there either.
health care - its about time! Its about whats right and its way past time to bring the Health care industry under some kind of regulation.

Re: Soooo sick of this happening
Hey Ken,
It aint you bud! I'm experiencing the "notcorrectpartORproperfitting" phenom. This is what happens when parts are no longer made in America or companies like the one you mentioned is just learning the reproduction business or using machines from other countries. Quality Control no longer applies! :0(

Take a piece of clothes line and run it around the pulleys, measure the clothesline, then ask your local autoparts/tractor supply store for a belt that length. The blue belts are kevlar and are much stronger, they cost a little more to buy, but they last longer.
