Obviously they didn't have a clue or they are trying to overcharge your friend. You are correct though, either way is being disshonest.

MCCUTCHEON4- I realize that flux core isn't solid, but it isn't hollow either. The center is where the flux is and since I don't know how much the flux actually weighs I just calculated it as if it were solid. With the weight difference being so little, I bet that I am within 50 feet or so on my calculation.
R.N.R.- I didn't intend to sound like a smart azz, not my style. You are correct the center is filled with flux, and your calulations are likely close. I could have worded my response a bit differently. I just felt the need to point it out. Being a pipe welder for 18 years and an engineer for the last 10 years I found the post interesting.

I just noticed you're from Bonny Lake, I am on 280' of the Puyallup river and sweating the rain.

Hey no worries, I didn't take it like that. Just hope that I didn't sound like a smart azz. Just trying to point out how I came to those numbers.

Yikes, 280' of riverfront property is not something that I would like today. I almost bought a house on the river in Orting about 10 years ago. Damn glad that I didn't because it has flooded twice since then that I know of. I am about at the highest point in Bonney Lake so no worries of water. I do work in the Kent valley though, so all the rain has me worried about the shop flooding out. Finally just got back to working full time with the economy being so bad and now we have to worry about the Green river flooding the valley. With as slow as we have been and with a lack of money, a flooded shop would put us out of business for sure. Here's hoping for some sunshine and not the liquid variety!

Sorry for the sidetrack, we will now return to our regularly scheduled program.

One 11lb spool of .030 wire built my complete car. Tube chassis, floor, and some rust repair. I agree that your friend is getting hosed.

Hey FE. Ya got my support too. What ever that's worth! I read the original post on this subject and hope it gets sorted out. Glad you are helping out. I just didn't have anything "tellegent" to add to it.

Actually, its a good "other side to the story" thread. Im glad I was able to read that thread on Utahstangs. Now I can make my own judgement.

Re: Math Question, Genius needed!

Just gotta love it ! The pathos, the drama,, the lies that are so blatant..
Why would someone go to such effort to expose a bad situation, if not for a good reason? ????
Just like going to a local restaurant, if you get great food or service, you tell everyone, and sleep off all the great food all night.
If the place sucks, and you puke all night,, then you REALLY tell everyone. What's the harm in word of mouth, on the puter or in person ?
I think I see the reason in all this...

Re: Math Question, Genius needed!

interesting...just went to the other forum and read, and read, and read...
it is a mess thats for certain.

I got a question:

Quote:
So what is the spot there?
Well I would assume it is the dyes from the Green rags that were keeping the trunk from scratching the car because some cheap ass (Who shall remain nameless) didn't provide the hinge/latch for the trunk.
but picture 13 shows the lid was hinged at delivery...just curious if replacing trunk hinges is typical for a restoration, as Ive never seen a trunk hinge go bad...hood, yes, but trunk?

anyway, are the original pictures that were on FM posted anywhere else?

sounds like this mess is going to be going on for a while, while its just a sad thing, its still a relevant thread IMO...if anyones ever going to take anything to a restorer, this thread sure gives a lot of things to watch out for...like documenting everything before, and being careful in contracts- for both buyer and seller...else restorer from hell or buyer from hell could equally cause tons of grief to the other...

like a good friend of mine once told me- theres three sides to every arguement: his side, her side, and the truth, and they are always different

judging from the pics alone though, I wouldnt have been happy paying for some of whats pictured...I might not even be able to do that good, but I'd sure try

sadly I got a bad feeling about the whole VIN issue...hope they can get this worked out somehow before someone winds up in jail and a few lawyers bill everyone involved a bunch more money than the car will ever be worth anyway...
