hot 289

Could a motor that has sat for 10 to 12 years have a bunch of rust in the water jackets thus making it over heat?

i put in a new therm.stat.
new water pump
new radiator. still getting hot.
drove the car and it didnt get hot one night..drove it 2 days later and got real hot real fast.

thanks
Scott

Re: hot 289

new hoses??

you could take the top hose offthe radiator --remove thermastat -- put houseing back on-- hook water to bottom hose and back flush the block-- anym radiator has the thing to hook air and water to the bottom hose - it will blow the block clean--

Re: hot 289

I too say get new upper & lower hoses, and remove the T-stat and FLUSH the engine prior to putting in new hoses and thermostat...

Re: hot 289

You could try back flushing the motor, that might help.
