These were from the Corral.net. Very good pics of GT40P port work

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Before I say anything else, I just have to thank Tim (302man) for all the help he has given me the past few years, and ESPECIALLY on what I'm about to post. He did ALL of the porting in these following pictures with me not even in the state I was out partyin in Vegas for my 21st, and he's sitting in his garage sniffing iron dust from MY heads.

ok, now here's the shots he took

I dont see how anyone can make halfway decent power with these heads unported, those exhaust ports are TINY, this is a shot of a felpro 1415 exhaust gasket on the heads.

heres one with 1 exhaust ported and 1 not, HUGE difference

another exhaust port shot

and here's a shot of one of the intake ports matched to a 1250 gasket

thanks again Tim

I was wonder what kind of die grinder everyone is using to port with and what do the pros use?? I'm getting ready to port-n-polish my 351c closed chamber heads..

Be careful when doing port work on the cleveland head they almost need the opposite, making the ports smaller was the rage my Dyno Don and Bob Glidden, the 351C heads were huge, and they used automotive body filler and special studs in the heads for high rpms.

This was done to keep the port speed up.hey already flowed more then most cam designs and intakes of the day could handle..

I wish could have viewed the GT40P pictures you did. I doing a set myself using the DIY article as a guide. BIG MISTAKE! I started grinding the exhaust guide back to the thermactor dimple to match the picture and now have a 1/16" hole into the water jacket! The intakes are perfect, as good as any machine shop could do. Now I'm hoping the head can be welded.

yep in most cases smaller ports means more velocity! which in turn makes more power........to a point!
