I suggest this DVD and a set of E7TE castings for what you are trying to do.

I think 69-70 351w heads are the best stock one to port

If you MUST have factory iron heads,

There is a guy that I met a few months ago that ports heads for a living (mostly small block ford). He runs a 6.70 1/8 mile Mustang II with factory iron '75 351w castings on it....and it's only a 331. They're the exact same intake ports as the very early 351w, but the exhaust ports are slightly different with their air injection holes in the later heads. They're workable, though...and this guy swears his flow 235 in the intake and 190 exhaust. Thats impressive....now, if I could only see the flow chart that proves it.

The 69-70 351w heads also work equally as well, but since it seems that EVERYBODY wants a set, the price goes up. Also, E7TE's are supposedly good heads to start with, and there's always the cleveland heads that can be easily swapped onto a windsor block--and we all know the the "C" heads work well.

I would use aftermarket stuff if I had to do it all over again from the get-go, but I can understand sometimes the budget doesn't allow spending $1300 on a set of heads. I also use the '75 351w castings on my Mustang, bone stock heads with 1.94/1.60 titanium valves (old sprint car parts ). They work well on a 302.
