Ford motorsport Y303 turboswirl aluminium heads

I am currently porting a set of ford motorsport Y303 turboswirl aluminium heads and was wondering what experiance regarding these casts is out there? my main concern is the E.G.R port in 2 and 7 ports! do these heads take kindly to the E.G.R ports along with the air injection bosses in the roof of the exhaust ports being tig welded or am i running into trouble with possible head distortion.
Also are these heads always so eregular in the castings?
there is no trouble with core shift but the machining aroud the valve sets is very inconsistant.Im also toying with the idea to remove the standard 1.54 ex and 1.9 in valves and fit 1.6 ex and 2.02 in but am unshore if the cast will acomidate the larger diameter valves and seats.

I'm not 100% sure, I can't see why not. I'm porting an old set of 221w heads at the moment for my 302. They had 1.5 inlet and 1.3 exhaust and 46cc chambers standard. We have fitted 1.94 inlets and 1.6 exhaust with no problems now the finished chamber size is 49.3cc. I'm going from 9.33:1 to 10.57 comp with the 240 @ .050 cam and other bits in the present combo it's just what the doctor ordered. But man what a job. Best of luck
Cheers Brett

Good Morning

Take a look at diyporting.com. The gentleman there is porting E7 heads. One of the first things he tackled was the EGR bump. His flow bench revealed that the flow numbers did not pick up that much. These heads of yours might have the same characteristics. You might just leave them there.

Thanks jim,
There not casting bumps as such but actually receases with a hole that caries through to the air pump circuit about 4-5mm deep and the EGR is a gapein big hole from the seat right up to the start of the bowl it looks like there is plenty of meat to modify the bowl and tear drop around the valve guide, I just unshore. Because in AUS I couldn't find a set of 289's and I want more compression. My wifes uncle had an old windsor in his shed and they were on it, so I got them for $0. I get more compression with them then I would have with the 289's. Now I have 49.3cc's (finished chamber cc after un shroulding etc) Thats why
