The header opening isn't that big...it's essentially the same size as the port opening and the headers and gaskets are lined up with the ports just about nuts on. I saw that and it may be that the carbon got between the head and the gasket...i'll definitely investigate it to be sure something didn't shift. After porting the begezus out of the exhaust ports, I had to find a header that had appropriate openings.

I for one want to thank you Very much for the help you gave me in private emails/messages and for anwsering my questions. I have really searched google hard for info and know from lots of porters I emailed the E7 port is not the same as the 351w C9/D0 ex port. What works great for one does not work for the other and porting a E7 like a C9 can find water in the ex roof so some have found. The few pictures here mean a hell of a lot more than what someone tries to discribe via words I find when you are doing your own heads to someone elses ideas/ own port job.
Thanks so much all of you who still run Ford iron!

I've looked at some E7 porting articles and I have to say that in general the DOOEs i've ported are larger than ported E7s and I never hit water jackets. One article showed the width of the E7 intake port at the pushrod hole hump to be 0.9" after porting. Just for curiosity I made this same measurement on my heads and it was about 1.020". Bigger isn't always better, but if they only measured 0.9", the inlet would be a lot smaller.
