Edelbrock RPM heads

I have some old Edelbrock RPM heads. They have the 1.9/1.6 valves. What CFM do these heads flow out of the box? And, can the larger 2.02 intakes valves be installed on these heads? How much would porting help these heads ?

I threw the same idea around for a while. Everyone I talked to just wanted to sell me a new set of heads (I was asking about porting on some Vic Jrs)..when in reality I was willing to spend some ca$h on porting. Apparently, the well known porters didn't want to waste the time on my heads. I was prepared to write a check for whatever it took to get them "done up". No big deal. I now know who not to buy from when/if I decide to buy new heads. Besides, after putting these back on my 415, I was surprised to make just as much power as some other heavy-hitters did...with MUCH more expensive combos (e.g. canted valves, AFRs, etc)

So, that said, if you find any GOOD info out there, please post it here. I'd like to see some results.

The exhaust on those is just horrible. The Stock Twisted Wedge leaves it in the dust.

Yep....but you also have to get different pistons (custom$$$) for TW heads and any decent camshaft profile. That's where inline valve heads have an advantage--and if I had $2000 laying around, I'd have bought the AFRs long ago.

Me thinks that the 225s would work well on mine!

Not true. Standard flat top pistons or dished pistons work and they don't need valve notching with cams up to .540 lift. Domed pistons are not recomended.

Exactly. .540" lift is nothing these days. I am running a 270 duration .700" lift on the Maverick...pistons +.010" out of the hole, 2.05 intakes, and still have .140" clearance on the intake and .120" on the exhaust. Vic Jr heads.....yeah, they might give up a little exhaust flow comprared to the TW heads, but everything fits!

I agree the TW heads do stray away from the norm...but the big + with these heads is the chamber, and the high flowing ports with relatively small cross sections.
If your looking at helping those rpm heads out instead of buying another set of heads, they can flow very well.
My stageI port is only 450 including intake and exhaust seat cuts and puts that head past the TW head. Flow is 250@.500 lift on Intake and 190@.500 on Exhaust. Not too much money for the flow IMO.
