I've seen ported heads with the guide tail left alone and taken out, I think it's a matter of preference.... I don't do small blocks though, I do tiny blocks

Dont remove the boss. Shape it like a cone from bigger to smaller from the roof to the end of the boss.

Your Valves are more prone to wear with the boss removed all the way, they will also be more prone to mishaps with a lot of metal sticking outwithout lube on it...

so i can take it down drastically , but just dont remove all the material....thanks for the help guys....has anyone ever thought of making the ports like the outside of a golf ball? if air flows better around a golf ball, with dimples in it why wouldnt it work on the exhaust and intake....might be time consuming but i wonder if it helps flow...just a thought thanks agian

With an E7 casting, don't worry about helping air with dimples. Those ports are so small anything you do to help them get bigger is going to help...well almost anything.
