reference pics Floo-tek
I bought these floo-tek's, cleaned them up and sent them off to the machine shop to be milled down to 56cc and a valve job. There was a large dip right under the intake valve seat on the long turn, I smoothed that out, but didnt really do much to the intake. Just cleaned up the casting flash on the exhaust runner and blended the long turn into the seat. I ordered them with 2.02 and 1.54, but im kind of wishing I had done 1.94 and 1.6 but whatev. Anyway I thought a bunch of guys interested in heads would like to see what $550 gets you.

Re: reference pics Floo-tek
no i dont, it was one of those things that i didnt expect to gain much from, but thought it would be worthwhile anyway. if i have the motor apart down the road i might consider having them ported but its really enough for my application at the moment.

Re: reference pics Floo-tek
Just wanted to update: Ended up not having them milled, but I was able to use 2.02 and 1.60 valves instead of the 1.54's like I thought I would have to. The motor runs strong except for a vibration that I believe is from the flexplate, and some carb tuning that needs to be done.
The air gap intake leaks a little oil from the back where I touched my FIPG during install, I forgot to move the bypass hose out of the way and screwed up. Anyway I'll port match the manifold when I pull it, it looked like it was a little small side to side. Also, the stock air cleaner REALLY chokes things up, but I like the look. I have pics in the makin' progress section, thanks for the info!

Re: reference pics Floo-tek
Ya i'm pretty darn happy with them. I'm still getting the carb and other things sorted out but I'm getting there. I knew they wouldn't be finished all that well but there wasn't anything I couldn't do in an hour, and I think they have plenty of room for some more porting. I thought the runners were big for my XE250H but it actually seems to work really well. I can drive around like normal and pass in traffic etc but when you open it up it goes.
I used elgin valves, comp studs, guideplates, pushrods, and the springs/keepers/seals/lifters that came with my cam kit.
When I get my trans in and reseal/port my intake I'll take it down to Wells Racing and get some numbers. Probably May.

Re: reference pics Floo-tek
They are VERY CRUDE, and have a terrible valve job. I hope you did not expect much in the way of performance from them

Re: reference pics Floo-tek
Joe how would these compare to a set of stock heads with a home brewed(non proffesional port job)?..Just wondering if they would be a better way to go rather than rebuilding your worn out 289/351 heads?
