Re: Port match TFS heads

I did that several weeks ago a few barely seeped. I pulled them out today and stuck them in a drill motor. This one will make you dizzy. Well, maybe not that bad but it's definitely noticeable. This particular valve is a Ferrea F6602. I am looking at Ferrea's web site right now and they don't list this valve. Did TFS use Ferrea valves? Or I wonder if these had been replaced before I got a hold of them.

It depends upon your definition of "seep".

They should not leak at all. However, if it just barely wets the carbon in the chamber after several seconds, it's probably "ok". If it "seeps" down the chamber and down the deck of the head in just a few seconds, then there is a significant leak.

If you can see the bend in the valve when spinning it in a drill, it's BAD!

You might want to do the "gasoline test" again, and closely check out the leakers.

Good Luck!

Re: Port match TFS heads

The seep was a drop overnight. I had the heads tilted and that's what I found in the combustion chamber the next day. I cannot find this Ferrea F6602 on their site. It must be discontinued or maybe the number has changed.

Re: Port match TFS heads

Also, would it be benefial to plug the smog holes in the roof of the exhaust ports? There is also a larger hole in one exhaust port on both heads. Would that be for the cross over?

I think they do, because there are also Ferrea valves in my new TFS heads from Summit. The F6602 could be a valve made for Trickflow only.

Re: Port match TFS heads

Looking at some CNC ported heads, I notice this portion of the valve seat has been milled down. Should I flatten this inner side? Should I flatten the bump as well?
