Re: Review of the new Summit Carburetor
That thing looks a lot like an Autolite 4100. Many of the same feature just just have the internal line to feed the secondary's.

Re: Summit Carb Review - UPDATED!
The Summit carbs are on sell in the new catalog. I too was waiting to see how this test ended before buying one.

Re: Summit Carb Review - UPDATED!
I'm driving it now and collecting Wideband data for the last article. I will just say it's a very nice running carburetor. I travel a lot for work, and I had to send the first one back to Summit. It's been slower going than I thought, but I plan to finish it after next weekend. Sorry about that. I will say that the "new" prices are very good for what you're getting.

Re: Summit Carb Review and Road Test
I'm curious what made you decide to turn to this carburetor in the first place? You didn't step up any in cfm (not that that's always better, if ever) but was it the construction design that you wanted with fewer chances of fuel leaks or was it the annular boosters, tuning ability, or something else?
Great writeup by the way, and good pics.

Re: Summit Carb Review and Road Test
I saw this carb in a Holley tuning book and would try one. I got into modding a Holley 750 vacuum carb with the Proform throttle body and it didn't seem to make much difference, that was done mainly so I could run without a choke horn for hood clearance though. One thing I could be sure of is that it probably weighs far less than a zinc Holley! Now here's a thought,if you run a vacuum carb that's too big that's supposed to be OK as the secondaries only open when they need too,but what happens to the fuel distribution when you're running only the front butterflies most of the time? I think the real solution is called fuel injection.

Thanks. I've messed with both Edelbrock and standard Holleys. This carb design is a good marriage of the two. I never liked the metering rods, or the flop-open air valve on the Eddy, but I love the 1-pc body design. This thing has that, but tunes just like any Holley. Jets, springs, power valve. Yes, I wanted an annular booster carb, too. Truck Avengers supposedly have them, but other than that, where's Holley's annular booster carb (aftermarket) for a street car?
Plus, you've gotta understand, I'm pretty much done with my motor. I like my combo and all I have left for fun is trying different carburetors...kinda sad, I know.

Re: Summit Carb Review and Road Test
One of the things that makes these special is the annual booster. Makes for a very strong metering signal even on a small engine with an open plenum intake. Just FYI - ProForm now offers a replacement 750 body with annular boosters it in.

Re: Summit Carb Review and Road Test
Do you work for Summit or a Company Manufacturing / Selling these Carbs?
