95 Cobra question

Hey guys, I'm new to the board. I just bought a 95 Mustang Cobra 5.0 with 50k miles and it runs good except it pings real bad no matter what octane I use. It aslo is hard to start at times. I had the mass air flow sensor replaced, because that was the best guess of the local shop. It didn't do any good. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is the timing set at?
What does your tempature gauge say? Is the car running hot?

Pull the spout plug and set the timming at 10 for starters. If it still pings then your engine may have carbon build up.

95 Cobra question

This is a known problem with cobras. Back the timing down to start. Consult with a ford dealership and look for tech bullitens. If you have a local dyno tune shop they can solve this by simply retuning the crappy cobra computer.

95 Cobra question

My 94 does the same thing and has about 65K miles. I thought maybe it was my autolight wires and suspected carbon buildup. Anyone know of the Ford tech articles about this if it is a known issue?

95 Cobra question

Lets keep in touch, I plan to get mine figured out shortly (at least that is my plan). If you come across anything let me know as well. A call to knowlegable Ford sevice dept might be a good idea. Since I do all my car work myself the local dealership is not always as helpful as I wish they would be.
