explorer/gt40/cobra intake power band

I purchaced an explorer intake on ebay for my T-5 88lx and was wondering what type of power band range it has. I know it flows 190 cfm compared to the factory H.O. intake that flows 136 cfm. Right now my car's engine is stock except for ASP pullys, Hypertech chip, MSD coil & 6AL ignition, K&N, ram air, plus I have 3.73 gears. Will this intake work well with trick flow twisted wedge heads or should I save up for a TF track heat intake.

Re: explorer/gt40/cobra intake power band

my buddy just put one on his stock 5.0 5 speed car and now it feels the same as before except after about 3500. the rpm's are strong all the way through 5500. as far as the heads go i would just go with it. i have a 92 aod car that made 184 stock and then i dyno'd it with afr165, 1.7 roller rockers, and the explorer intake and it made 262 with the stock cam. all pulls were made in 2nd gear. i tried an edelbrock performer 1st and couldnt get it to idle right so i went to the explorer.

Re: explorer/gt40/cobra intake power band

This intake works really well with the TFS heads ported and has a very nice torque band. Unported it is a restriction. I have this intake on my 5.0 Mustang right now with a set of out of the box Twisted Wedge heads. Tmoss will port the lower for around $100 so it isn't a restriction for the TFS heads. You can find Tmoss at most Mustang forums like the Corral.
