Streets,Ground Pounder upper and lower control arms, Ground Pounder drag springs, monroe shocks and struts(just for now), subframe connectors, DF Centre Force clutch, 3.73 gears, new posi clutches, explorer intake, 65mm TB, ASP pullys, MSD coil and 6AL, Hypertech chip, 1 5/8 Mac headers, 2 1/2 exhaust no cats, and Turbo Flow mufflers. Mine held up to 5500rpm launches with a 26x10 slick. It did not hold up when I missed third gear though.

I really don`t know how much abuse it can take, but I do know most T5 failures are not on the starting line.Usually the 2-3shift.

85Mike and BCH01 are correct, third is the weak point in the T5. I busted the one in my ole 5.0 Stang, and that was with a stock motor on steet tires. If you don't power shift them, they generally will survive.

I've just ordered Wolf Craft torque box plates and a Lakewood drive shaft safty loop, just to be safe.

Is launching at 5k harder on your diff or your tranny?

I figure that launching the car is done in 1st gear, lots of torque being generated but I would guess that it dissapates thru the car and suspension and rear end. It only took me a few thousand miles to break 3rd in my T5Z. Missed shifts dut to technical problems with the scattershield and linkage. 3rd gear was discibed to me being as being the glass jaw in the T-5 trans. I would say you should be safe launching close to your peak torque rpm, 4 or 5K. Make sure you hit 3rd and you should be fine.

what do you guys mean when you say missing a shift, like 2nd to 4th? just checken. and also how are the t-56's, are they stronger or what, why dont people use them more often, other than expense?

I cant speak for the late model folks, but the T-56 wont fit in an early stang w/o cutting and or modifying the trans tunnel.

No, it would be the 2nd to 3rd shift, missing this shift is the most common problem but the term applies to any gear change. Missed shift buy my definition is when I am at the track and speed shifting from 2nd to 3rd and you miss the timing of the shift and generally let the clutch out before the shift lever gets there and basically trying to force it into gear, or worse you let the clutch out while it is only partially in gear and the shift lever pops out from your hand, the car hops, the rpm`s go sky high because you are assumeing it would be in gear when you mash the pedal. It happens so fast, I shift in 4th at the 1/8th mile mark, that is 8 seconds for 3 gear changes.
