Mustang front strut & brake question

I'm swapping a '66 Mustang to struts and coilovers and need the shortest struts available. Anyone know if the '79-'82 and '83-93 are the same length and travel? I know the earlier ones mount directly to the '94-'03 spindles, where the later struts need 1/8" spacers to mount the wider bottom flanges. I also want to buy a good pair of OEM '79-'82 struts, unless I find that the '83-'93's are shorter. I also need a front brake pad mounting spring clip (1 on each end of pad). They are not available separately from Ford. Thanks for any help.
