How much will a supercharger add?

There is also the turbo option, unless you have to pass emissions (no turbo kits with a C.A.R.B. exemption, yet).

I saw an AOD hatchback with no other changes but gears, slicks, and a street turbo kit, run mid 12's at 5,600 feet above sea level. For comparison's sake, that same night there was a Kenney Belle'd '03 Cobra (with slicks) running the same times, as well as a supercharged Z06 that could only muster low 13's. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It made me wish I had gone that route instead of the stroker, heads, cam and intake...that car was running about 1 second and 15 mph faster than mine!! It was running an untouched longblock and AOD! It still had the stock crappy 5.0 intake even!

Anyway, boost is the way to go. I'd also keep the AOD (maybe have it built) and get 3.73 or 4.10 gears. You can't really go wrong with any of the supercharger kits out there either. I'd prefer something intercooled like the ATI Procharger or the Vortech with the after-cooler option.

Good luck.

I don't think many people want the expense, installation, heat sheilding or maintenance issues that go along with after market turbo kits. But there are a few that are legal, one commonly available one is a dual turbo kit which has been on the market for a number of years.

Most of the, less expensive, single turbo kits are legal only in the states of their mfg...most of those states have either no enforcment policy or are very lenient, requiring only that you pass a tail pipe test...no visual.

As a practical matter, any of the supercharger kits will provide more than enough stimulation, an "A" ticket ride, ... if you are from So Cal you know what I'm talking about, adults only need apply. High boost turbo chargers have a steep high learning curve, for street use. But, for the penultimate street ride, you have to go to the "hair dryer".
