TIMING 5.0 Mustang

I need to know if im doing this right. I pulled out the jumper and adjusted the timing to 10 degrees using timing light. I then put the jumper back in and the timing jumps to about 12-14 degrees. The question i have is do i set the timing so it reads 10 degrees with the jumper in? If so does the timing always read hiher with the jumper in? I know...Bone Head stuff. I appreciate your time.

Yes, always set/check timing with the SPout connector unplugged. The connector allows the 'Puter to interface with the dist and vary timing as needed so it will constantly change.

yes you did it correctly. though 10 is kinda low, get it to 12 without the spout.

Can anyone take a pic of the spout connector under your hood. I've had discussions before about this on my 89 tbird, I can't seem to find on on my car??
