help me ford gurus please!
i had a similiar problem with hard starting after warm-up and slow engine speed. first do you have underdrive pulleys? at slow engine speed you will experience low battery voltage and amp drain..second a bad starter will drag when engine is hot, does it start better when cold? my remedy was new small dia. starter which moves the starter away from hot exhaust..new battery..fixed.. in regards to your timing, disconnect the spout after warm up. if you have auto place in gear at 750 rpm and set timing to about 12 to 15 degrees..replace spout check for ping, if no ping you could advance until ping is noted and retard 2 degress and road test again..do this until ping eliminated with 93 + octane fuel...you may also check total advance with marked balancer and spout in place.. vehicle must be in gear to do this, so jack stand the rear end total should be in the 35 to 40 degree range..
