Airbag light blinking
On my '90 LX. It seems to be blinking in bursts of 10. Anybody know if the system has trouble codes? In order of priority, what should I be looking at?
Thanks for any help.

My F-150 does 3 then 2. I'm pretty sure it's a warning to service the system

Airbag light blinking
All the blinking lights mean/have their own certain trouble code. If I was at work right now, I'd give ya'all a clue as to what your 'particular' blinkage' means.
Can be anything from a lower power at the module, to a certain input concern.
Common concerns are clock springs, (go tits up), and module problems.
Again, any blinking light, (air bag wise), have a correlating code as far as starting your preliminary diagnosis.

Airbag light blinking
I found a list of 1989-91 airbag codes for SHO's here: http://www.shotimes.com/SHO3airbagcodes.html. The list states that a code 10 is "Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal Fuse - Open Due to Intermittent Short to Ground." This raises two questions -- (1) Are all 1989-90 Ford airbag codes the same?; and (2)If so, what the heck is this telling me? Where is the diagnostic monitor internal fuse, and where should I be looking for an intermittent short to ground?

9 times out of 10 (probably more), when you get the code for the internal fuse blown, it's just a puked module. (thermistor that blows is internal to them, so you have to replace it anyway).
I"ve replaced hundreds of them. Never, (yet), a return repair.
Good luck, have fun.

Hey drag79stang - when you say module, is that possibly the sensor/module mounted up front on the top/front of the radiator support on the driver's side? I ask because I was just doing a headlight repair and could well have whacked on it. What does one of those cost? Could I chance a junkyard replacement? There are loads of Mustangs in the local Pick-a-Part here in L.A.

Nope, that's just one of the crash sensors. There are 2, (3 if you count the main module).
1 each on each front of vehicle, and the main module is either located on firewall, (can be inside, can be outside),. Mostly located inside.
The themal resistor is internal/i.e. part of), the module.
Again, replaced hundreds of those.
Also have seen lots of wiring concerns, (rotted/cut/chaffed/trashed), over my short time here on earth, but when your code for trashed/internal short shows up, it's USUALLY the module.
Good luck, have fun.

Pretty generic (simple), system on the older stangs.
3 power UPS (inputs), to the module.
937 Red/white wire from fuse 7, (15a), from fuse panel. HOt at all times. Then there's 640, Red/white, fuse 18, another 15 amper, hot in start, or run.
At the module, you will have 3 hots. Pin 1, red/white, power input. Pin 6, red/white, power input, and pin 13. Red white power input. Ck for power at these points, (and do voltage drop to cover yer butt.). Just because your voltmeter shows 12v there, doesn't mean squat. You have to load the system/wire to make sure it can 'carry'/flow' 12volts. That's why just using an ohmmeter, (once battery is unplugged), to 'ohm' the wire is a no good test.
Generic at best.
In either case, if the power and grounds all test good, then again, it's the airbag diagnostic module. (same as last one.
Ain't a whole lot to these systems.

Thanks for the info drag79stang... but you didn't answer one of my questions: where is this module located and what does it look like?
Somebody told me once that is was a little blue colored box that is visible if you look up into the dash after you remove the glove box door...is this true?
Thanks in advance!
Mark
