No start 86 t-bird?

My 86 t-bird with factory efi 302 and about 140,000 miles is having problems starting once in a while. It will want to start but doesnt, here is the kicker. If you put your foot 1/2 way down on gas pedal it will start but will die if you let go to an idle, once warm it is fine. About once a week it will do this. I am thinking that it might be fuel related but have no idea to where to start. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.........Chad

Tp sensor, sticky iac, fuel pressure, sooooooooooo many little things that can add up to your concern.
If you have a manual, (or get the info online), ck what the tp reads @ idle. Also, simple enough to clean the iac, (don't recommend it myself, just replace them), in either case, also ck fuel pressure.
Still sounds like bad tp sensor, tho.
Good luck. Have fun.

My first guess would be a sticking idle air control valve. You can take those off and look for signs of scoring then clean them too.
