On the cam you mentioned that it was previously at 4*..that
would be 4* degrees advanced. if its a three keyed gear on the crank you have the option of straight up, advanced or retarded. advancing a cam brings the powerband down a couple
hundred rpm. retarding it brings the band up. being a street
car i would put it in at 4*A advance..the keyway on the crank should be straight up.thats TDC (top dead center).
put the keyway marked 4A there.
the camshaft gear has a dot on it. That will go straight down at the bottom (180 degrees). you want to align those 2 marks. then remove the cam gear just enought to install the
chain and work it back on..make sure your dowel pin is long enough.. should be at least 3/4 of the way through the gear to flush...
valve train geometry is very important..what kind of rockers do you have? stock stamped steel, bolt down roller
