Replacing a clutch

I am replacing my clutch in a 01 stang 3.8 v6. I replaced the pilot bearing, clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. When I try to bolt the tranny to the bell housing, I can't get it to go all the way in. There's about a 1/4 to a 1/3 of a inch gap between the tranny and the bell. Does anybody have any ideas of what the problem is? I have already double checked to make sure that the pilot bearing was in far enough. is your clutch disc facing the right way? sometimes the
pilot bearings are snug. you need to have a perfect alignment to get them in. If your close you should be able
to pull it in with the bolts...E
