timming a 85 bird help

HI ALL
On the fan shroud it says 7deg. I could find any marks on the dampner execpt a star looking kind of mark So I'm asumeing its the mark for timming.. Its a 3.8 tbi. Now I forgot to unhook the vacuum advance but with it idleing the star mark was about 180 off from the pointer? (I crawld under it while running and found it there). The car is very slugsh for a 3.8.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me..
Thanks OH now #1 is on the passanger side right.(it was the one marked with a #1 on it.)

Look for a spout connector if it has one. If it has one and you did not remove it when timing it will be advanced by the computer. I cannot remember if 85s were or not. My fathers 86 was I think.
