88 Cougar \'weirdness\'

I just recently had my heads rebuilt and after re-installing them:
A)My starter turns very slow and sometimes takes 2-3 attempts at starting the engine. 11:1 Bumped compression/stock starter problem??
B)I need to adjust my AOD linkage? "when I put the car into gear, it takes awhile to engage. I depress the pedal, the revs reach 2300-2500rpms, then it feels like the 'clutch' finally engages."

Did you get the distributor timed right when you reassembled everything? -- if the timing is off (too far advanced I think) it can cause hard/slow cranking. On the trans, check the fluid. Low fluid can cause problems like you describe.
