What would keep you from pulling codes from the EEC

I tryed to pull the touble codes from my EEC in my car (1987 Ford Thunderbird TC) And the reader didnt read anything and it didnt go into KOEO testing mode. I also tried to jump it at the EEC test connector and it still didnt work. Also the car is not running.

After the above mentioned..... Assuming you have spark and fuel in the car. These cars are famous for having bad iginition switches. If its not suppling voltage to the EEC relay, or if relay is bad it won't run or give codes. The relay is in the black box in front of passenger side strut tower(have to repl the whole assembly if bad). If there is 12v on pin 24 of the controller, those things are not your problem. If no voltage check pin 18, if its ok check pin 13. If 18 has continual voltage and 13 switches off/on with the iginition sw, the controller is bad. If all this is OK check pins 37/57 of the EEC for voltage(12v).

A open TPS that allows the voltage to go to max will shut off the injectors and cause a no start. But it still should give codes.

I dont have 12v at any of the pins you listed above. I do have 12v at pin # 1 on the EEC. So does it sound like i have a bad switch.

Taking another look at the wiring diagram, I just found a mistake. It shows the controller as having two pin 18s(nope that ain't possible). So I'm not sure if its fed by the ign sw or a fuse link. Before you repl the ign sw, check pins 3 & 4 for 12v to be sure the fuse links that feed the controller are OK.
