1996 mustang gt clicking noise

I just purchased a 96 mustang gt. i put about 800 miles on it and it started to make a clicking noise when i get on the throttle and was only doing it when it was in gear at first but now does it when i start it. I can rev the engine in nuetral and it wont do it. i did notice yesterday that a couple of times when i started it it made kind of a howl like the starter was running a little after starting. i'm pretty sure its not a u-joint. any help would be greatly appreciated

maybe its your timing. Do you know if the previous owner changed the timing? If so then the ping that you hear might be detonation. To fix that all you gotta do is get a timing gun and set your timing to 0. Also if you hear a whining noise coming from the starter, it probably means that the teeth are worn and slipping. There are plenty of aftermarket starters to replace your worn starter. Another few things you could check are the valves (make sure they clear), your clutch (might have to re adjust / replace it). It could also be as simple as tightening your clutch cable cover (mine made a clicking sound when it was in gear because it was too loose). Thats all I could think of for now. hope it helped

I'd like to see somebody do that on a 4.6 modular.
