Turbo on a 5.4

I have been pondering doing a turbo set up for the truck, outside getting the turbo set up with exhaust set up, would I need to do anything to the heads whatever to see if it is something that is a reasonable possibility thanks

What is your compression ratio?

The stock bottom end (particularly the powdered metal rods) is what I'd worry about. If you don't get boost greedy, it shouldn't be a problem. The problem is, it's easy to turn up the boost "just a little bit more" on a turbo system.

They will turn back into powder if he is not careful.

Guys with Lightnings throw rods out the side of stock blocks quite often. The L's bottom end is poop. So is a stock F150.

Yes, but again the key is not to get greedy. There are lots of modular engines running around with power-adders and the stock bottom-end.

Thanks for the replys I have been on vacation I have been reading similar stuff, I am not in the position to re-do the motor and a power adder its a shame the rods are so weak, I was just thinking the turbos are not as hard on the motor I gues they are the same as the superchargers etc. thanks

Dude,
It can be done reliably on your stock bottom-end. You can make impressive power, you just cannot get greedy, and go turning up the boost after you lose a race or something.

I have faith in these guys building a turbo kit for just about anything. I've seen their work in person, and their design and performance is top notch. I'm still kicking myself for doing the stroker kit instead.

Here is a post on my wifes car from the same company http://www.turbomustangs.com/forums/...threadid=37682 but go to the home for pros and cons. If you haven't been to this web site it is one of the good ones for turbo charging. Good luck.
