Ford Taurus Help

Heres the deal Just got this car 2 days ago put on about 200 miles and here is what happens when shifting from Park to Drive or Reverse or drive or any combonation of the above the car dies on me and wont start for like an hour.
Its not a battery or alternator but It is very hard to start until it feels like starting tried to jump it with another car didnt help at all once its going it runs great Also when it does start after it happens it sounds like it has a look rocker arm or something for about 2 minutes and then it goes away and it never happens on cold starts only on starts after it dies.

The Car is

1989 Ford Taurus Wagon

V6 3.0 Liter

Automatic

74,750 Miles

Unknown past history but it looks really nice inside and out and under the hood

Looks like a brand new alternator and Battery

Im a courier and really need this car for work so if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks.

Oh yeah it only seems to happen when the car is At operating Temp

Also when it does happen It totally seems as if the battery is dead or the Starter is having a really hard time turning the car over.

Ford Taurus Help

I am not a transmission mechanic, but it sure sounds like that may be your Problem.. Maybe the torgue convertor locking up or, the valve body, or pressure regulator. Just thinking this as it seems the problem is when you shift gears.

Hope someone else can help you, as I am waiting to learn the answer.

I believe your post would get more response on the All Ford Techboard or Garage.

Ray

Ford Taurus Help

The 3.0 taurus cars were notorious for tranny problems and the ones with the 3.8 had head gasket problems.
The 80's taurus cars were known for all kinds of problems. If I were you, I would not plan on keeping this car very long.
This is talking from experience...........worse car I ever owned!
