Vinyl dye questions....

I saw some vinyl dye at Autozone. There's gloss black and flat black, and grey, and a few other colors.Black and grey are the two colors I'm concerned about.Do you use a gloss or a flat color on the dash, interior panels, door panels?can you apply an interior protectant on it?I just need a LOT of general info about these products before i start working on my Project T-Bird's interior. What to use/How to prep?anything I can get.Thanks.

Vinyl dye questions....

Gloss might reflect light and give a reflection in the windshield.

Can you put vinyl protectant on it?How sturdy is the dye?Is it good for vinyl door panels?

Vinyl dye questions....

A few years ago, I started the process of turning a 69 coronet 440 into a strip car. It had this lovely brown interior that I hated! The dash pad was in perfect condition (brown) and I decided to try vinyl dye. I cleaned the crap out of it and used black vinyl dye. I believe it was a semi-gloss. It came out great! It looked like a brand new part and I couldn't scratch any of the dye off! I believe I got the vinyl dye from an automotive paint supply store...it worked great!

Well,I dyed the dash grey (it was tan),and it looks great.I also bought a dash cap for it since it had a few cracks in the top(almost all Fox T-Birds and Cougars do).I haven't tried spraying any protectant on it yet.I still have to finish the door panels ayway.

I work for Ford where the IP's are built. 5.0Resto has the exact piant/dye we use when making repairs on the line. And yes, You can use protectant on it.

Just make certain the surface is CLEAN.
