got her running, drove 1 mile then it died....

Well, Finally I got the last pieces connected and took the 56 wagon for the first drive powered by the 5.0 EFI. Very cool and it sounded great.

It ran great for about a mile, then died when I went around a corner. Now when I crank the starter she tries to start for a second but wont keep running. I did notice a slight backfire when it shifted between 2-3 but that is the only symptom I noticed when it went for the short drive.

Yes, there is plenty of fuel in the tank. i did the basic diagnostics like checking firing order, etc and everything we good before the drive.

I havent had time to check codes yet but if any of you have had similar experiences that could save some time and busted knuckles it would sure be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave R.

The problem came from air in the fuel line. The Bosch external pump which has good dry suction, did not draw fuel past the pre filter this one time.

Has anyone had a similar problem? The Bosch pump is sold as self priming and until this instance has started and run fine. Would it be overkill to install a low pressure pump in front of the high pressure Bosch unit?

Where in your fuel pump, it should be in, at, or near the fuel tank. To bleed it, I've always had somebody inside the car cycle the key, while I press the schrader core down untill all the air is purged. This has always worked for me.
