Adjusting hydraulic lifters in an 89\' 5.0

My son and I are back to work on our 5.0 ranger swap.

Just put a new set of stock ford lifters, rockers , a HO cam and timing chain set in a stock 89' 5.0 from a lincoln.

I beleave we just torque the lifters to 22 lbs is that correct?

Thanks Mike Sr

You mean torque the rockers?

So you have the pedestal mount rockers. They do make shims to adjust them if needed, but I would always make sure the lifter was not on the lobe of the cam for the rocker I was installing, and then I would just torque them down. Never had any problems.

This was when everything I was using was stock. When heads and stuff start changing, I would go to adjustable stud mount rockers so you can pre-load the lifters properly.

Thanks,
Yes torque the rockers.

We're just cleaning up this stock motor to get the truck put together with a C-4 trans once all the bugs are out of us and the truck than we'll start building a real motor for it.

Thanks Again Mike Sr
