EFI on a 392W - help
I am really new at this EFI stuff but it time to update from a carburetor. I have a 392-crate engine 430 hp @ 5500RPM and 450 ft. lb @ 4000 RPM from Ford in a 72 Pantera. I want to run a MAF system. I am looking to go with the Trick-Flow intake. My questions are, what size MAF, Throttle body, injectors? Is a 90 mm Throttle body to big for a non-supercharge engine? I will be running a 5 speed ZF trans but have no place to install the VSS. What can I do about that? I hear with out a VSS the car will stall out when coming to a stop or slowing down. What wiring harness would you go with if you did not have a stock one? Thanks for your help.

Re: EFI on a 392W - help
Go to the "feature Cars" section and read a very similar article...it is about an EFI conversion on a Pantera. It was a little tricker then yours, since there never was an EFI application (production in the USA), however, based on horsepower and parts needed, it should be as close as you can get without someone holding your hand.
Yours will be easier, since you do not have to fabricate the intake manifold, otherwise it should be a slam dunk.

Re: EFI on a 392W - help
Injector calculator.
Fuel Injector Calculator from WitchHunter Performance
I'd personally go with at least a 76mm mass air. I've got a 76mm C&L mass air housing on my 357C, and I love it. I'm running 30lb/hr injectors, because the 24lb/hr injectors were getting too small with all my engine mods. Plus, C&L makes up to an 80mm mass air, so you might want to check them out.
I ran my car for a while without a speed sensor, it wanted to stall bad when cold, but it would be fine when hot. I recently swapped an AOD into it, and I put in a speed sensor, and it helps.

You are wanting to use a throttle body similiar to a 4V carb in place of the OEM 351W setup?

Look for DIY fuel injection (EEC-IV). It will give the appearance of a carbureted engine if that is important. A VSS is not required as you will be using a manual trans ECM.

Re: EFI on a 392W - help
This is the type of feedback I was looking for. Thank you, what do you guys think about TwEECer? After I get this thing all together and running do you think this is a good investment?
I have seen the article on the red EFI Pantera. His part # for the speed sender come up empty when doing a search. But it was a good start to see what I was getting into and looking for a VSS sender.
As for the DIY fuel injection I think the OEM 351W setup is better. With the OEM 351W setup you have more part combos.

If all you want is the OEM EFI, it is a bolt-on using a 351W lower plenum. The Panterra adaption shown as a Tech Article here is for a CLV block.

KULTULZ I was wrong..! This setup uses OEM parts. I recheck the article, webpage and then call Mass-Flo. After taking to Chris for and hour or so he had all the right answers. I order the kit for a Windsor. Thanks for your guys help

Re: EFI on a 392W - help
How far off was it from the "Slam Dunk" definition?
