explorer heads

Decided to go with explorer intake and head swap. I plan on running the gt40 explorer heads(95-97.5) versions. From what I have gathered the compression ratio of my car will drop with these heads???.... Im pretty sure a stock 5.0 runs 9:0:1 compression. So how far do I have to mill these heads to bring my compression to say 9:5:1, and in doing so will I have to have my pushrods shortened/and or have my valves shortened to compensate for the heads being milled?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated

Re: explorer heads

no one knows what the compression would be on these heads and how far they have to be milled to acheive a 9:5:1 compression?

Re: explorer heads

Hi, if you c.c. the combustion chamber of the original 9 to 1 head, say 62 cc for instance, then find out the c.c. of the explorer head. If you have to remove too much, you will have more trouble than pushrod length, also having to worry about weather your intake manifold will fit, as milling will lower the intake ports in relation to the block/ manifold sealing area.
