idle problem UPDATE

Well , today I hit a new LOW. OH YA I did. If you have been following along with my previous post then you know I have a serious idle problem. As FE put it, I finally gave up today and took the P.O.S. to theTARDS. Tards hook it up on computer and drive it and blah, blah , blah. Tard pulls a lean code (DUH! ,I new that!!) out of both banks and says it is O2s. and is very suspect of idle control valve. I tell tard that I cleaned valve but he say it is clean but still defective. I think tard is defective but any WHOO. This "check out" is free and I proceed to go to local parts store and buy two O2s and a idle control valve(some folks call them solinoids) but you know what I mean.I go home. It takes me longer to get out the tools and jack the car up than it takes me to change the parts. I also remember to unhook battery to clear computer. Start car up and HOLLY ****E, you have NEVER heard somthing idle so poorly. RAGE ensues quickly! to say the least but I calm down , stab the throttle a few times, let it warm up but NO better. So I figure puter needs some "private time" to get use to new parts. Take P.O.S. out for a spin and as It reaches temp, it gets a little better but not much. Tach is also slow to respond to my foot. If you remember , I was having the exact opisite problem before. Poor idle when at temp and in drive at a "stop"to long. Now it has poor idle ALL the time, no power and does not seem to be any idle change at all between Park and Drive. I fiddle a tiny bit with fuel press, timing, and idle adjust, but NOTHING make a dif. HELP???

Yes it is plugged in . Wiring will need to be ckecked. Drivers side O2 plug was very oily. I am suspect of it. Oil filter has always leaked a tiny bit. No matter how tight or loose i put it on and I always clean mounting surface and coat gasket with clean oil. IM NOT starting another thread on this . Idle prob is ENOUGH for now. Point being I will remove both plugs and spray clean and reinstall. Thanks. P.S. It is raining here today and I donot have sheltr . No answers today.

When I bought new "Professional Products" 70 mm body four year ago it came with a new one. So ,no I have not changed it. BBUUUTTT!! this does raise another point. I wonder since new O2s and throttle control valve that throttle voltage is now out of range?? Like i post before, Rain here today and i have no shelter . So no reporting today . Only sitting here and festering!!!

Re: idle problem UPDATE

It was just a thought, stepdad had an 89? F-150 5 speed, ran like you had never driven a stick. It would hesitate when you gave it gas so you would give it a little more then it would rev way up, you'd let off but it would stay high for a few seconds. Driving on the road when you shifted the rpm would stay high between shifts even though you had let off the gas. Always thought it had to be tps sensor, didn't get a chance to replace it before he got rid of it.

Re: idle problem UPDATE

Did your idle issue happen all of the sudden or was it gradual? Did it start after a performance upgrade or general repair?

About 4 year ago I put 70 mm , cold air with K&N, new 19# sample tube in maf meter, adujust fuel reg with gauge in engine compart. Also port match upper intake to new throttle bod. Under pullys. All this was done as one large(well to me any ways) project. When I ran car after all done it ran lean. BIG TIME lean . Uped fuel press, reduce timing back to factory. Ran good and idle fine. Now fast forward. About a month ago, as I was sitting at a stop light, car just drop idle to about 400 and bounce like crazy with engine at temp. I havent done any thing sine first round of above mentioned performance except for routine oil ,tires, flush radiator, You know! It happen all of a sudden with no repair involvred.

Re: idle problem UPDATE

I know I said it was raining here but it stop long enough for me to replace ECT & ACT sensors as well as water temp sending unit. Re set coputer , start it up and of course it run like crap. It need time for computer to adjust. Took it out for about 5 mile but then the sky let loose and I had to come back home and park. So i really dont know as you need a good 20 or 30 miles of varied driving to reset computer. Ground to wet and muddy to clean O2 sensor connectors. Oh, ACT sensor a real bit$$ to replace as even with a pig nuckle it was 1/8 " turn at a time very carfully as not to crack sensor plactic housing!! SHEEZ!!

Re: idle problem UPDATE

One thing I found strange was that when I replace temp sending unit the temp gauge now at half way on a 60 degree day . May be it was going bad and the car is actually running a little hotter than I thought. ???
