No on the coil and the same for tfi. How hard is tfi change? Definatly no leak through reg. pressure @ 43 with vacume removed. Pressure goes up and down through powere band as it should. I gotta go to work , be back at 5 est. Later!

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
Well, not the MAP sensor. I didnt think it would be. Hey whats another $70. Get this, MAP cost $70 and TFI cost $37. HUH?? Ok ,I give up. Any how, TFI a PITA to change as distrib. has to be pulled. ARGGG!! I figure if I pull the distrib. to change TFI my problem will go away cause then IM guarenteed the car will NEVER run again!!! If it dont run then no prob. with idle HA,HA.Ive never done a TFI and therefore dont think I want to do in an evening after work. Guess I may as well get a coil to.Probably will wait for the weekend. My confidence is so low that it is hard to muster the feeling to tackle any more. Bye

Yes , I wish I had the money I am spending too!! You know that sombody or somthin aint gettin what it is supose to over this DA** car. Your sympothy is greatly apriciated though. Gonna try a few other small things but pretty soon i am afraid there will be only one soulition. LET IT BREAK!!!! Thats right , eventually it will break. THEN it(the car) will tell us the prob. Not the pretty way but may be the only way.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
If it makes you feel any better I have seen ignition modules fail after the engine reaches normal operating temperature and warms them up. For some reason I thought I remembered reading you had changed that, it must have been someone else's post. I feel pretty confident and sure that the TFI is the problem.

You may be right. I may have mistakenly said that I changed when I really hadent. The instructions that came with module say " Ford had a heat issue with these modules". It is 16 years old!! Also, Bad plugs (Wich I had for a year, white as a sheet of paper, LEAN) can ruin a coil and in turn ruin a TFI. Point being , It may be a combo prob. Thanks for ur support. Your are the third to point at TFI.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
i had an idle problem creep up but only after idling for a long period of time. mine is a 5.0 EFI in a Galaxie.
i used a Jeep ballast resistor inline to my EFI pump. while it quieted the pump down ALOT, it also would progressively overheat and eventually cause the pump to slow cutting FP causing my crappy idle. when it was cold it started & idled perfectly.
now i'm searching for another one to use.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
Suggestions..... if I may:
1. If you had the car serviced for that problem, and the original symptom is still present, they should service it under warranty..... specially after spending that amount of $$
2. The first item to do would be to check what the EEC is working with....... a DIY KOEO/KOER self test will allow you to check what the EEC is dealing with in terms of possible circuit failures, and prevent you continue replacing parts that may not need to be replaced.
3. Suggest to perform a Base Idle reset + a "Salt & Pepper" connectors fix.

Oh, You bet your arse they would warrenty but I don`t have another 4 days for them to play "milk and cookies with a bed time story" on this car. Salt and pepp. done. pulled a lean code out weeks ago . Replace every freakin sensor in the engine and O2s. Still has a slight ping at heavy throttle(even with timing set to stock). at temp. Figure idle probably somewhat connected to lean condition. Another words one will probably fix the other. But I am now leaning (no joke intended) tword ignition. I have a new TFI and coil that I intend to put on this weekend and I may even get a new distributor as I don`t want to have to play with hall effect. What gear is distrib, cast or steel? on a stock 92 5.0 I cant remember.
