Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
Im not gonna go through the 80 posts and B.S. that we have all suffered in the past weeks . So read the posts previous if you like. Last Thursday I got my 5.0 back after a new mass air sensor was deduced buy me and Ford tech. Drove car for 3 hours on and off but no long term idle in drive at a stop. Today while I was stuck in traffic cause NASCAR in town. IT HAPPENED, OH YES IT DID!!! Idle puked out after about ten minutes of idle in drive with foot on brake. It cost me $428 at dealership for 3 days of tech (I cant find it!) and a mass air sensor. You gotta be freakin kiddin me!! Guess it wasent the sensor. I figure that the only thing left is the computer. Went to parts store today and buy new one but I have to wait for it to get here in the morn. ($97 after I turned in my old one). Interesting that Ford does not make these units any longer. You can only buy them as remanufactured from parts store? Prob for the best. Ford would have prob. wanted $400. I will post back tomorrow after I put in new computer. DAMN, I cant believe this WILL NOT go away. To date this will put me at about $7 or 8 hundred in parts and labor and 6 weeks old.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
O.k. Since I Said I Am Going Through This Also, But With State Emissions Test On Top Of It (failing For Nox) I Have Been Testing Everything I Can Test With A Vacuum Pump And Digital Vom. TODAY I PUT ON A VACUUM GUAGE TEED INTO THE EGR SO I CAN MONITOR IT WHEN DRIVING. EGR FUNCTION IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NOX CONTENT IN EMISSIONS TEST. IF THE EGR OPENS AT IDLE YOU WILL HAVE STALLING, ROUGHNESS, HESITATION. IS YOUR EGR CLEAN? IS THE PISTON ON THE VALVE SEATING? YOU CAN TAKE OFF THE EGR, POUR SOME ISOPROPL ALCOHOL OR OTHER THIN SOLVENT ONTO THE PISTON TO MAKE SHURE THE EGR ISN'T LEAKING EXAUST GAS INTO YOUR ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED.ALSO IT HELPS TO CLEAN THE EGR PISTON WHILE IT IS OPEN, SO YOU GET THE CARBON OFF THE VALVE SEAT, ANOTHER USE FOR A VACUUM PUMP, WHICH IS A VERY HANDY TOOL TO HAVE ANYHOW, BLEEDING BRAKES,ETC..I ALSO DISCOVERED TODAY THAT TPS VOLTAGE HAS A DIRECT RELATION TO EGR FUNCTION (WHILE DRIVING WITH THE VAC. GUAGE IN MY HAND) THE CLOSER I GOT TO .9 VOLTS AS OPPOSED TO THE POPULAR .98 TO .99 VOLTS, THE MORE VACUUM I GOT TO THE EGR. I AM ONLY TALKING ABOUT 1 TO 1.5 INCHES OF VACUUM DIFFERENCE HERE,BUT IF YOU TEST YOUR EGR WITH THE PUMP YOU WILL SEE IT IS ALOT. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
I have decided to approach this idle problem a different way. Instead of telling what has been done, lets talk about what has not been done. Injectors are stock 19#originals. Fuel pump is stock original. EGR is four years old.Converters have FORD stamp on them so must assume there original. Original ignition system. All head and intake gaskets original . Mass air meter ,cold pipe and throttle body four year old . Car ran lean for about a year before idle problem kick in then I turn back timing to stock. Lean problem 99% go away but idle got WORSE. Thats IT!! Dont honestly know were or who to turn to. Cant take it to Ford and let them "play" for another week at $400 a clip. ???????????????????????????????????

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
Why did idle problem get better when mass air unpluged?? Cant be the sensor , ford replace that. Cant be computer , I replace that. ????Its not intermittent cause it consistantly does the same thing in almost the same amount of time every time. I have noticed that cold starts are harder than they use to be even after idle prob first started. Gotta keep stabing throttle for a while and idle never really stabilizes, i usually just start driving and idle gets better until the DREADED long stop in drive occurs then the car is never the same until it is shut off , and at least somewhat cool , and restarted and then the cycle continues.

Re: Idle problem AGAIN!! NO WAY?
Yea, Mine Is Aod, Did You Try A Coil, Could Be Hot Soak, Mine Doesn't Stall, Just Rough. How Is Your Fuel Pressure,no Leak Thru Regulator? Did You Replace The Tfi Module?
