Super Victor EFI manifold application

I'm looking at converting my mostly street driven (but not a daily driver) 2800lb 302 Mustang to EFI with a 331 or 347 stroker. I would like to stick with a traditional 4 barrel throttle body and 14" air cleaner to match my hood scoop arrangement and would like to use an Edelbrock intake manifold as I have a Performer RPM and 600 cfm carb right now and have been very happy with them. My car has a 5 speed and 3.55 rear gears. I haven't selected a roller cam yet. Heads wil be Performer RPM or RPM XT and I'd like about 425 to 450HP at the crank. I am leaning towards using a Megasquirt controller.

The RPM range (4500 to 9000 rpm) listed for the Super Victor is very high for a street driven car but I have read that if you have a light car it won't matter as much because you don't need as much torque down low to get the car moving. I have also read that because that since the fuel isn't introduced into the air stream until it is almost to the heads, intake runner size and shape isn't as important as it would be with a carbed car.

My questions:

Will the Super Victor be OK for this application? Will the ports match up to the heads with minimal cleanup?

If it's not OK, the Edelbrock Pro Flo 2 looks to be similar to the Victor jr but I haven't been able to find out from Edelbrock if its available for purchase separately?

Similar intakes are available from Holley / Accel DFI and the EFI Sypder intake. Any opinions on those?

Thanks

As for the Super Victor; You can rest your mind - most of the rules for carburators can be tossed out the window when you go sequential-EFI. Since fuel is no long carried by the intake charge, you don't have to worry about keeping it in suspension. Fuel is injected directly into the chamber, more or less solving the problem of intake being too big. Even better, I think they have that manifold off the shelf with bungs for EFI?

You are going to port match the heads and intake manifold, I see no reason for worry about them "matching up". The biggest issue should be getting the performance profile (ecm tuning) set up correctly.

Let this thread simmer for a while - I'm sure you'll get a butt load of alternatives and opinions that you can use to make an informed decision that matches your intended use.

Re: Super Victor EFI manifold application

I just finished the EFI install onto my 331 in my 66 mustang. I used a Professional Products Hurricane manifold with injector bungs already cast into the manifold.

Needed some work to match up to my vic jr heads, but what new manifold wont? Their worth looking into.

Re: Super Victor EFI manifold application

I picked up a new Super Victor EFI 8.2 on eBay for a decent price. I guess we'll see what happens, it'll be a while though, I have a lot of parts to collect.
