Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Boston Accoustic makes some really good stuff. I think they were just bought out by JBL or somebody though. I will berunning (2) 3.5" Memphis Audio in a masonite plate for the dash and (2) 4" Memphis audio in the convertible pieces that hide the top mechanism. Bass will come through an 8" Bazooka NOS8 powered tube. They look like an N2O bottle with a sub in it. Since I am sharing this car with my dad I didn't want to get too crazy on bass. I would still like to add some larger drivers up front though so I'll be curious to learn if your kick panel project works. You'll have to keep me informed.

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Pilot light is re-lit, going to be soon that the pumpkin begins again..... Ha ha, I say that all the time too, but ya know, this thing might just run this year and early this year no less. I got the speaker covers, EXACTLY what I wanted which worked out nice. I still have to come up with some ideas on the kick panels and also where I'm mounting the tach, 5" AM Pro-comp. Still waiting to start my new job so that will determine alot too.
Just wanted to stir it up a bit, stroking the coals a bit here. Expect a little more progress in my next reply, and less b/s'n!

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Well, got some more trim around the windshield, easy stuff and it finishes offthat area a bit more. I got a new trunk hinge because the original was bent, body bracket bent and therefore made it unusually hard to open and close the lid. While the trunk lids off, rubber goes in. She's slowly getting going after another busy month, death, sickness, job, snow whatever you could shake a middle finger at. Once more stuff is done, pics will be taken.

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Another update so you don't think the car is dead, all the tubes are bent and on. Done, now the dash pieces are bieng installed, trying to find a wiper switch but everything else is good. The windows are bieng fit and soon will be wiring. I gotta fix the rear end leak, someone forgot to silicone a gasket from the pig to the housing, hum????? A small set back. Pics coming, haven't had alot of time really, but maybe in the next few days. I know this is all hype and poop without pics so I will deliver.

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Nice to see some pics. Not much new on this end. Car body is actually in production as of yesterday. Media blasting made the floor pans look like window screen. I wish we were keeping up with your progress. You'll have to let me know what the 514 runs like. Did you ever get that motor dyno'd? How much to you actually have left on your "To do" list?

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
I beg to differ, sounds like you guys were progressing very quick, then again, sometimes there is only so much you can do till others get things done. Mine's been really in o/d here, my dad works on it quite a bit when I'm not there, I work when I can but "work" is 10-12 hour days on top of regular to do things you know? The wiring is beginning, so really that, stereo, all the rest of the interior, finishing the final touches on weatherstrip, there is not much left. We're mounting the guages right now, plumbing copper line for some. The windows need aligning but after the door rubbers go in. It won't be long before that thing fires, basically after wiring so even a month at the latest. I still gotta change the coil springs but that we can do any time. There is always more than you think but things are really in high gear. Now, who can I see about a gas mortgage???????? Sunoco 94 is about $1.30 a liter here at present.
Say Greg, what size rims would I be considering for the front, width and backspacing on a 18"? I figure the backs at 4" b/s, 18x9, 9.5" with a 305/45/18 Nitto 555R, but don't know the fronts so much.

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
No power steering is on it or will be. This might be a consideration for the future, as is disc brakes for the rear and maybe a/c. I originally wanted to experience what an old car was, you know, no power anything except engine. I experienced no power brakes and that sucked, so I put power brakes on. This was on a model A with 4 wheel drums too.
I gotta go see her today, guages are most likely mounted along with the line lock switch etc.

Re: Orange 64 Galaxie Progess
Gotta love progress. I am not sure on the 18" fitments. I know I had issues with the 16" fitting though. Turn the wheel and hit a bump and kablam! My hardtop and vert are running the same 2" drop in coils and springs so that might not be an issue with yours. I would try for a 18" by 8" wheel with a 4.25" to 4.5" back space to be safe. If you could take an 18" wheel and put it on without a tire and then try moving the wheel lock ot lock and see if anything gets close. I know the vert is pretty tight with the custom a-arms we put on the front end. Actually alot closer than the stocks. I'd love to have tried bigger on the vert but $ and desire to not have something fit kept me at bay.
Cole, I am running a hydroboost brake system and the stock power steering system on a Concept One mini pump w/remote reservoir. The vert will be running a GM style pump on the March Performance pulley system. I am not as young as 64Galaxie514 so I like power stuff. I guess 39 years old is nothing to complain about though. I had a non power anything 60' Falcon as my first car and I decided that really sucked.
