Thumbs up Zephyr Twin Turbo Project

Twin Turbo Zephyr Z7

I started my twin turbo Zephyr project with the intention of just working on it when I felt like it but it seems to have gotten away from me that way. Even though it is taking a while to complete its getting really close and I'm looking forward to driving it soon under boost.

Re: Twin

Looking sweet! Give me some details...what did you do to the motor? Are those T03 or T04's? How much boost are we gonna roll?

Re: Twin Turbo Zephyr Z7

Engine is mostly stock .030 over 87' Mustang 5.0 with ARP rod bolts, removed EGR humps from exhaust ports, stock roller cam, converted to 650cfm Holley carb with Edelbrock performer intake and JBA firecone headers flipped and swapped to feed the T3 turbos.

I'm running the stock wastegates and I plan to jump the actuator to the compressor outlet and see how much boost it makes some people report 10 psi others get 15, I'd like to only get 10 at first and hopefully it will make no higher than 15 once ready (for the time being).

Re: Zephyr Twin Turbo Project

People won't see it coming! I bet your engine will be fairly quiet with the nearly stock rebuild. Get some video of peoples faces when they lose.

Re: Zephyr Twin Turbo Project

exhaust work update

Funny that I just now read the story about angry neighbors and noise decibels, it described me perfectly in that I too am 36 and want a quieter hot rod Ford (or in my case Merc). I have been running exhaust on my car myself (another first) and I've hit a snag as usual, I had run the fuel lines ages ago and both the feed and return are sitting right where the passenger side muffler needs to go! It doesn't touch but its close so I dont mind going ahead and running it there but I'd like to rig up some kind of heat shield and I'm having difficulty fitting one around the 10AN hoses, the shield can touch either the muffler or lines but not both I think I can pull it off but I need to spend more time thinking about how to get it done. This is one of those little things that annoys you when trying to get something done! pics attached of one installed muffler/tailpipe assy and the other side showing the fuel lines.

Thumbs up Re: Zephyr Twin Turbo Project

Revived from page 4!

I have moved my project car up to where I work I have a nice boss and he's a car nut as well (one of his cars is an 07' Kenne Bell blown GT500). I'm moving forward again on the car and hopefully I'll get the thing going before too long, I've been getting tons of little things done and look for another tech article from me in a week or two, it seems I'm always waiting on parts.
Anyway here's a couple of pictures of things and how they're going lately...

As always I'm decked out in my Fordmuscle attire at all times for the camera, it even got me much deserved/needed attention at the hardware store prior to this wrenchfest session.
